A razor that isn’t mainly compiled of plastic and doesn’t end up in landfill
One super easy and economical eco-friendly switch you can make is changing your razor.
The EPA estimates that over two billion razors are thrown away every year. Most disposable razors are made from various plastics which are not always recyclable or recycled and so they end up in landfill.
After an accidental find I ended up trialling the Friction Free Shaving (FFS) razor last year and haven’t looked back. The razor comes in three colours and if you like you can personalise the handle, this is super handy if you live in a house full of women with the same razor.
It seems that I’m not the only one who loves FFS as it was voted the best women’s razor in the product of the year awards this year with 10,399 votes.
Recently they have started a recycle scheme where you can refill the cartridge with used blades, put back into the box it came in and post it back to them. They recycle the blades and you can feel guilt, and hair, free!
The blades themselves are great because they give you a close shave and don’t blunt too quickly unlike most plastic disposable razors. On average FFS razor cartridges are £1 cheaper than competitors because they disagree with the pink tax!
All deliveries from FFS come in a small recyclable cardboard box that fits through your letterbox so you don’t need to wait around for deliveries or waste time heading to the shops. Your first order also comes with a shower holder which you can stick to your bathroom tiles allowing it to drip dry and prevent it growing bacteria. Another reason I personally like the company is because their range of shaving products are all cruelty free, although they do come in plastic tubes.
The company also gives you the freedom to decide how frequently you want your new blades so you aren’t tied into a monthly subscription that you don’t use. They also have the handy option of deferring your delivery, for up to three months, when you’re on holiday or having a shave free winter so you don’t end up with surplus blades.
